Magen David Adom mourns the death of combat soldier and Shaldag Unit* Paramedic, and MDA volunteer, Master Sergeant Lior Arzi, 25, who fell in battle in Gaza on Friday, November 2, 2023. Lior leaves behind parents, three sisters and a girlfriend. He was buried in Kibbutz Givat Haim Ihud where he lived.

Lior began his military paramedic training in 2019 and as part of his studies completed practical shifts on Magen David Adom MICUs. In 2020, once he had completed his studies and qualified as a paramedic, he continued to volunteer in Magen David Adom, and was completing his training to be recognized as an independent MICU team leader. His friends in Magen David Adom said that his most recognizable feature was his smile, and that he stood out for his professionalism and his never-ending desire to learn and improve, in order to provide the best medical treatment, both during his military service, as well as in Magen David Adom.

Tamara Youdelevitch Shalit, an MDA paramedic who served alongside Lior Arzi in the IDF, and who worked with him in the Netanya MDA station, eulogized him:

“Lior was always smiling, with a good heart and well loved. He was the first to volunteer and help at any opportunity, and all the teams in the unit where he served wanted him to be with them. In the military paramedic course, that he joined as a combat soldier, he brought everyone together, helping and encouraging everyone. He was an elite fighter and a very talented paramedic, who loved his MDA shifts and tried to help save lives at any time. May his memory be blessed.”

MDA Director General Eli Bin eulogized Lior Arzi:

“The State of Israel has lost a first-rate fighter and paramedic, and the Magen David Adom family has lost a talented, high-quality paramedic. We mourn his death and send his family and loved ones our condolences at this difficult time. He will be missed by us all. May his memory be blessed.”
