A few days before Passover, we sat around the table. A few friends, good food, wine, and a light atmosphere, despite the wartime reality outside. We wanted to bring some discussion and depth to the meeting, and because of the timing, we aimed for it to be related to the holiday of Passover.
I started with a question: Do you know when the traditional Passover “telling” (Haggadah) was composed? Calculations, discussion, and even debate immediately began. In the end, we arrived at a general estimate – hundreds of years. To be more precise, about 1,800 years ago.
So maybe it’s time to upgrade?
A fruitful discussion developed around the table and led us to discuss the four sons who appear in the Haggadah:
- the wise son
- the wicked son
- the innocent or simple son; and
- the one who doesn’t know how to ask
