I thought we had already seen the worst. After experiencing significantly “smaller” missile attacks from Iran in recent days—with only a few missiles at a time—we thought the greatest danger had passed. Iran is out of steam, weak; we’ve won. That’s what we thought. But no, unfortunately, we rejoiced too soon. Our euphoria over a possible quick victory against the Ayatollah regime was premature.

This morning at exactly 7 a.m., we were all brought back to reality when my phone suddenly started screaming. It was the alert from the Home Front Command app. That replaced my alarm clock today. Luckily, I hadn’t gotten up yet—otherwise, the alert would have caught me in the shower.

I grabbed my backpack, where I had packed all the essentials—in case a missile hits and we can’t leave the shelter. Since the catastrophic attacks of the first days, we’ve been instructed to prepare a few important items, including some clothing, and bring them to the shelter.
