
As Palestinian Authority leader Mahmoud Abbas delivered a fierce speech to the United Nations General Assembly, it became clear that his internal position has now become almost untenable. A staggering 80 percent of Palestinian Arabs believe the elderly PA leader should resign, and Hamas is exploiting this situation by trying to start a new terror campaign against Israel from Judea and Samaria, as we will see below.
Almost two weeks ago, Abbas gave a speech to the United Nations General Assembly during which he again made threats against Israel.
Ultimatum
Abbas gave Israel one year to withdraw completely from Samaria, Judea, and also from eastern Jerusalem.
The aging Palestinian leader said that if Israel failed to comply with this demand, he would go to the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague to sue the Jewish state.
Abbas also threatened to withdraw the (oral) recognition of the State of Israel, which dates back to 1993 when the PLO and its then-leader Yasser Arafat signed the “Oslo 1” agreement.
