Relations between Saudi Arabia and Israel have improved significantly since Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman (MBS) effectively took control of the Kingdom.
Since he ascended to power, the Crown Prince has made statements indicating that he holds different views of the Jewish people and the State of Israel than his predecessors, and has allowed visits by Saudi individuals and delegations to Israel.
In April 2018, for example, MBS said that Israelis are entitled to their own homeland and have a right to live there peacefully.
It came therefore as a surprise when Israel Today received an email from Saudi journalist and tribal figure Abdul Hameed al-Ghobein, who reported that his Saudi citizenship had been revoked, apparently because of his pro-Israel activities.
Al-Ghobein has written several articles favoring Arab relations with Israel, and has openly praised MBS’s new policies vis-a-vis the Jewish state. He has also been highly critical of the Palestinian Authority for launching a smear campaign against Saudi Arabia over the attempts to ‘normalize’ relations with Israel.
