Israel is preparing for the possible resumption of the Iran war. At the same time, talks with Hamas appear to be on the verge of collapse, while the ceasefire with Lebanon is also considered fragile.
In Jerusalem, officials are closely following negotiations between Washington and Tehran, but assess the chances of an agreement as low. While US President Donald Trump hopes that the maritime blockade will push Iran to accept his terms, Israel views that assessment with skepticism and is simultaneously preparing for renewed military escalation. The security cabinet was expected to convene on Monday evening.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry said Tehran had received, via Pakistan, the US response to its latest proposal to end the war and was currently reviewing it. Israel is monitoring the talks closely, but believes the prospects for success are extremely slim — particularly because of Iran’s refusal to accept Trump’s demand that it give up enriched uranium in the first phase of the agreement.
