There has been a clear decline in the sense that Israel is winning the war.

Between a felt sense of victory and growing uncertainty lies one of Israel’s invisible fronts today. While military achievements can be measured, the question of the war’s outcome remains open in the consciousness of society — and it is precisely there that the true resilience of a country is tested.

This shows that Benjamin Netanyahu’s repeated promise of “total victory” is colliding with the reality of a war in which military successes are being achieved, but for many people, a clear and tangible end state remains absent.

This tension is not new. Already in biblical times, the mood of the people of Israel shifted from trust to fear, despite an unchanged reality — a reminder that security does not arise from one’s own strength alone.

The same is true today: The war is being fought not only with weapons, but also within society itself — between perception, expectation and the struggle for trust.
