Thousands of people marched in the Israel Day parade in New York City on Sunday, expressing their support for the Jewish state. The parade was a clear demonstration of the immense support from Jewish communities and a significant portion of the American public for Israel.

Danny Danon, the Israeli ambassador to the United Nations, emphasized that the parade sent a clear message: “The people of Israel are not alone.” He highlighted the involvement of dozens of ambassadors to the United Nations, who marched alongside released hostages, their families, injured soldiers, and other supporters of the Jewish state.

Danon said the people of Israel were still in a state of great pain over the remaining hostages. However, he remained optimistic, stating that they would prevail in the war and set free all the captives.

The Israeli envoy expressed gratitude for the warm reception the Jewish state received in New York at the event. He emphasized the unity and pride among the participants, stating, “We are marching together, and we are proud and tall.”

The Israeli mission to the United Nations reported that tens of thousands of people had joined the pro-Israel march through the streets of Manhattan. The parade was opened by New York Mayor Eric Adams, Governor Kathy Hochul, and Ofir Akunis, the Israeli consul general in New York.

Akunis further stressed the significance of the parade, stating that it was a clear expression of the enormous support from all Jewish communities and a substantial portion of the American public for Israel. He also noted that the parade served as a definitive response to all the terror supporters in the city.

“While they desecrate the flags of the United States and Israel, we proudly display them,” Akunis declared. “They are in decline, while we are in ascendancy.”

“It is truly gratifying to once again march side-by-side with our Jewish community at the Israeli Day Parade in Manhattan,” the New York City mayor said. “This event transcends mere celebration of the bond between our city and Israel. It serves as a powerful message: hate and antisemitism have no place in our city.”

Rep. Mike Lawler (R-NY) expressed his pride in standing with Israel at the parade. Jessica Tisch, the New York City Police Department commissioner, said she was honored to march with the NYPD Shomrim Society, a group composed of Jewish officers.
