MembersMasada – Israel’s Last Stand

In this 5th installment of “Guiding God’s Land,” Stan Goodenough invites us to the nethermost place on earth. Here, at one of the lowest points in Israel’s history, the last remnants of a crushed nation clung to a distant but promised hope.

As an archaeological site, Masada is like no other. But even more impressive is the message it holds for Christians in our day.

Significant Scripture

Then He said to me, “Prophesy to the breath, prophesy, son of man, and say to the breath, ‘The Lord God says this: “Come from the four winds, breath, and breathe on these slain, so that they come to life.”’” (Ezekiel 37:9)

If one place in Israel is an indispensable stopping point for the Bible-believing visitor, it is the ancient, wild, mountain fortress-cum-palace of Masada.

I understand that this statement might raise a quizzical response: For fans of Josephus, maybe, you will say. For historians and archaeologists, certainly. But for the Bible-believer? There is, after all, no record of Abraham, Moses, Joshua, Elijah or Jesus ever being up there?

    Thanks !
Good article, I would however add, that Ezekiels ‘Valley of dry bones’ has mostly completed Phase one, ; The bringing together of the people of Israel. Phase two ‘The coming back to life’ with the Roach, – has already started, and the new Government could be an important step in this process ?

We visited Israel in 2000 and we went to Masada during what was a memorable and at times an emotional, holiday of a lifetime. We loved every moment of our time in the Holy Land and intend going back one day. Masada was a fantastic experience.

This article has touched my heart. I have been to Israel and Masada many times. I always wished I could Traverse the snake trail down from the mountain. My problem was that my legs and knees were so bad this was not possible. I got to the point where I was using a walker. I prayed to the lord many times to restore me. My pray was answered, knee replacement surgery. Two years later with a friend ,i was able to Traverse the snake trail down from Masada. Are God is so good he restored my ability to walk and fulfill my dream. Our Lord and Savoir Yeshua has the power to restore. I know this on I personal level he showed me this at Masada to. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem.
