Isaiah transcended Left and Right, though he is often today cited by both sides when doing so fits their agendas

How would the prophet Isaiah have been reported in the media today? As a devout leftist, or a right-wing peace activist? Who knows, maybe his divine proclamations would have gotten him “cancelled.” What about all his promises regarding world peace and a just society, for instance when he spoke of “the wolf shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the young goat, and the calf and the lion and the fattened calf together; and a little child shall lead them”?

Aren’t these naive left-wing notions, wishful thinking at best? Or this prediction that the people of the earth “shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war anymore.”

In Israel, most people see such peace activists as a threat. They are no longer wiling to risk Israel’s security for an uncertain peace.
